The 24 Hour Escape That Doesn't Require a Vacation

Hey friends,

Life with busy boys and busy practices does not always allow for long, slow trips whenever we want them. So we have gotten really good at making the most of the time we do have. Little day trips have become one of my favorite things, and living in Folsom means we are only about an hour and a half from some of our favorite escapes, Lake Tahoe or Napa, depending on the mood.

Some days it's Lake Tahoe. Toes in the sand, s'mores at night, the boys running around until they're worn out. No laptops, no charting, just being outside as a family for a few hours.

There is nothing quite like s'mores around a fire pit. My marshmallow has to be perfectly toasted, golden all the way around, never burnt. It's a tradition in our family no matter where we are. Cabin, backyard, beach, if there's a fire pit and marshmallows nearby, we're making s'mores.

Some weeks that one day at the lake is exactly what we needed. It resets all of us, and honestly, it's one of my favorite kinds of family time. I encourage you to find a simple day trip or weekend getaway to recharge, even when a longer vacation is not possible with the hustle and bustle of a busy office or busy season.
