Behind the Scenes: How I’m Prioritizing My Health

Because We Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup

Hi friends,

I want to take a moment to share something personal with you—not about business, dentistry, or The Retreat—but about me. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned this past year is that if I want to keep showing up as my best self—for my kids, my family, my team, and this community—I need to start by taking better care of myself.

Here are a few things I’ve been doing lately to prioritize my health and energy:

🩸 Getting my blood work done
It’s not glamorous, but knowing what’s really going on inside my body helps me catch things early, prevent burnout, and stay accountable. Data gives me clarity, and clarity gives me peace of mind.

🥗 Eating with intention
I’ve shifted to fueling my body in a way that supports my long days at the practice and all the projects I love pouring into. For me, that means being mindful about what goes on my plate and focusing on whole, nourishing foods.

📱 Tracking Meals with the Macro Habit app
I’m not perfect (who is?), but having a simple tool to keep track of my calories and macros has been a game-changer. It helps me stay consistent, even on the busiest days.

What I’ve realized through all this is that self-care doesn’t always look like spa days or vacations (though I love those too!). Sometimes, it’s the small, consistent choices that keep us strong enough to keep building, leading, and giving.

As we head into a new season of growth for The Making Of, I want to encourage you to ask yourself:

👉 What’s one small thing you can do this week to take better care of yourself—so you can keep showing up as the leader, parent, or partner you want to be?

With gratitude,
Ashley

P.S. If you have a favorite health habit, app, or routine that keeps you grounded—hit reply and share it with me. I’d love to learn from you too.

I got my blood drawn! Still waiting on the most recent results :)
